IFP office in Pietermaritzburg burgled over Easter weekend

The source added that there was confusion about whether the criminals were after the IFP office or the law firm's office.

Mystery surrounds a break-in at the office of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in Boshoff Street, in Pietermaritzburg, over the Easter weekend.

A law firm next door, from which the IFP rented its premises, was also burgled on the same day, according to a source.

A computer, water dispenser, cables, photocopying machine and other working resources, such as rim paper, were taken, according to the source.

“They [suspects] also robbed the other office next to [the IFP office] and took items such as a fridge. We believe that they used a truck to transport the stolen goods. They broke the gate and probably parked the truck inside,” he said.

The source added that there was confusion about whether the criminals were after the IFP office or the law firm’s office.

Maybe they just wanted to mislead us when they broke into both offices, but [the party] has reported the matter to the police and fingerprints were taken.

When The Witness visited the offices on Tuesday, the offices were still in a mess. Papers were strewn all over the place and a locker with files was also left open.
